OUR SERVICES

We are pleased to offer a wide range of upholstery, refurbishment and restoration services to both homeowners and businesses. In addition, for sofas and chairs, there are a wide range cushion options. These can typically be divided into two high-level categories:
1.

Traditional Upholstery

Horsehair & Hessian
A vintage combination of horsehair or other natural fibres, with a hessian casing. Common in antique furniture.
Sprung Cushions
These feature internal coiled springs encased in foam or padding for extra support and bounce. Often used in traditional sofas for a structured look.

2.

Modern Upholstery

Feather & Down
There are many options when choosing feather or down. A combination of feather and down, or a mixture of feather with hollow fibre can be used. We recommend the use of a foam core with a feather surround to create a cushion that will not require plumping.
Foam
There are a few options here:
High-Density Foam. Firm and supportive. Retains shape well over time. Best for structured and modern sofas.
Low-Density Foam. Softer and more affordable, but may lose shape more quickly. Good for use on the back of a sofa.
Memory Foam. Moulds to the body for added comfort, but less common for traditional styles.
Hollow Fibre
Soft and lightweight, giving a plush feel. More affordable and also hypoallergenic. but may flatten over time and require plumping. We would only recommend this cheaper option for the back cushions of a sofa.
